Title: Plugs - W5 or W4
Post by: Shailan on November 26, 2009, 10:26:59 AM
Anyone have experience of running a W4 plug instead of the W5 plug?

As most of the G's are modified is it better to run a colder plug?

I need a new set of plugs and would like to try the W4 unless someone tells me otherwise.

I read the post about the rotor arms with W4 - but take it was due to the Resistor not the heat range of the plug.

Cheers

Whats your spec again Shailan?

Doubt it really is needed unless you run higher CR and/or very high boost (Eaton/KKK). That said I have W4CS in at the moment

I use W4's too but it's on a turbo'd setup.

Take them out- I've melted a set of these (without nitrous)

Running W4's on an fully sorted eaton setup. 9.3:1 compression.
Runs poor when cold but I suspect that is map related. Soon find out when I remap.
Drives nice when warm and pulls plenty hard. Plugs are in good nick.
Again I am running big power and did not need the W4's with 180BHP and the G-lader.

I ran nitrous too, that's what killed the Bosch plugs to be honest. Rest of you who aren't running gas should be fine with them.

Interestingly look how many OEMs now use Bosch electronics throughout the car, and NGK plugs  8)

Well I have been "running" these since 2003 without any problems
