just watched the last in the series of james may's top toys. Some great stuff but today's episode about scalextric I particularly enjoyed because I had loads of scalextric as a kid and it was easily my favourite "toy". So much so that I still have a fair amount of it! Haven't used it for nearly two years though, it'll have to come out of the loft again:

that was my living room floor around christmas 2007.
My other favourite toy was Lego Technix, particularly Technix because normal lego was a bit too easy and I preferred the actual building of the lego things than actually doing much with them afterwards. I still have a load of lego too but don't use that anymore! I do still have my lego technix jcb (with working pneumatics!) in my office as a kind of ornament though. I like to think messing with lego technix was a good grounding for a lot of what I like to mess with on cars these days, I learnt how things like planet & sun differentials, and pneumatics/hydraulics worked from messing with lego!
So what are/were your top toys as a kid?
lego technix was ace. I had the pneumatic jcb lol and various other bits n bobs
cant believe you dug it out the loft haha. classic
nah those pics are from a couple of years ago, prob the last time I had it out.
i also watch james on tuesdays. the track was ace last week.
my childhood toys were scalextric which i was also going to nab from my dads loft and set it up in mine and get a couple of mates round for a race. i also had lego, some of my dads old mecano and lots of cars(most of them got destroyed) pity.
But my best childhood toy had to be Airfix.
My toy has tits! lol.
I had some scalextrix too. little figure of 8 track. Was all good till i was given some track my dad had when he was young and it wouldnt work with the new stuff :(
Had a big ass box of lego, a huge trainset, toy cars....the list goes on.
My mate still collects toy cars. Literally some in ever room of the house!
just took a picture of my lego jcb:
