Title: 16V HEAD ON PY BLOCK
Post by: grayg40 on November 03, 2009, 10:10:17 AM
AS the heading say's, can you fit a 1.4 16v head on the py engine and if so what are the benifits or losses?
also what mods need to be done to achieve this if it can be done?
cheers
Mark

I think 8v's are more torquey as a rule but with a 16v u get much better airflow (as standard) 2 a 8v so in affect more power!
No idear if it will work and how it would fit? but would be very intrested 2 see?

custom pistons, custom inlet manifold, custom exhaust manifold for starters.  It has been done and it'd be pretty cool but it aint going to be cheap.  As far as I'm aware on the actual head the only modification required it getting an extra oil or water way welded up.  But the main issue is that the AFH head has combustion chambers in it so trying to use that with any g40 pistons which also have combustion chambers in them wouldn't work.

cheers for the responce lads, the mannys is an easy part.
i will investigate more for this over the winter as have a second engine (well most of one) to play about with,
this was just an idea i had but i will have to save to some pennys but that might just go towards the 1341 upgrade

When you weigh all this up, you might as well get forged rods and pistons for the AFH engine and modify that instead.
