Title: Earth straps
Post by: vwmk3jon on October 25, 2009, 05:23:34 PM
Had a bit of a plan whilst playing with my charger!

The earth cables I've seen on my engine look nasty which I don't like tbh. I've got a big bundle of terminals and plenty of blue amp power cable (4 gauge or 20mm squared) which I no longer need for my stereo and would match my silicone piping.

Would it work if I made earth cables using this and would I have any issues?

Cheers folks ;)

the only worry would be whether the insulation could cope with under bonnet temps and if it'll go funny if it gets bits of oil on it.  Although I guess neither would stop it working, just make a mess

Afew people upgrade the big 3 cables so to speak when upgrading cabling for big ICE installs so I don't see much difference although I can keep the OEM items just incase. Thinking of changing charger earth and the gearbox earth.
