Title: help
Post by: matthg40 on October 25, 2009, 02:17:24 AM
evening all got a problem which i dont quite know how to explain.il try anyway when the car is cold it runs like a dream as soon as it passes a certain temperature it runs like a turd. To be precise it starts juddering and jolting soon as you touch the throttle. And when you wait at lights it starts hunting for revs and when you pull off it sometimes stalls.the juddering is really bad and i cant seem to control or stop it. Today i changed the blue temp sensor for the ecu and it hasnt made the slightest bit of difference. Sorry i couldnt explain better but if anyone has any advice please help me because its driving me insane thanks all matt

could do with getting it hooked up to a diagnostic computer really so you can watch for dodgy looking sensor readings when it happens.

Otherwise, have a read of the engine fault diag thread in the Engines FAQ section.

sounds like the plug leads. it would cause the car to behave like this when warmed up.

Could be lambda probe. The lambda probe only works once it has warmed up. When cold the ECU ignores the signal. You could try unplugging it at the connector (I think the connector is on the inlet manifold).

The diagnostics cables may still be there somewhere; they have a +12V and GND plus 1 signal wire on 2 x 2 pin connectors. On one of my G40s they had been moved and used for the supply to a tracker.

some g40s just simply dont come with the diag wires in the loom for no apparent reason.  read the threads in the FAQ section as there are some instructions in there on how to re-wire the diag cables.

there's only really two options here, one is to sort out the diag cables and also use a multimeter as per the FAQs to find out what is wrong and the other is to start randomly replacing parts that it "might" be.  Option two will start to get very expensive though!
