Title: What type of timing belt
Post by: Jezza-7 on September 30, 2009, 01:09:20 AM
Have seen two different types, one with 108 teeth and the other with 128

Which one would suit a 92 G?

more than likely the 128 tooth belt (normally called a round toothed belt).  The other one is normally on older polos and has square teeth.  A 1992 polo should have the round one but the only real way of telling is by looking at it.

If you tell at the seller the chasis number, he will tell you exactly what type of belt you have

you can tell from the engine number too, I think ETKA/vagcat shows the ranges of numbers for each belt.
