right I have the cambelt on but it is now running like a bag of shite
tickover it is fine but as soon as i accelerate slightly there is massive hesitation.
i had to time it up guessing TDC so is it because i'm a tooth or 2 out?
or as i'm hoping something simpler

I'd say timing a tooth out. Why have you had to guess TDC?
it has a psd toothed belt kit on it but when at TDC the markings are out by about 5 teeth, which i dont no why?!
hmm, sounds weird. I did see your other thread about this after I replied to this too.
I guess you'll have to get a dial-gauge with a long extension piece and poke it down the spark plug hole to measure TDC and make a new mark. I did this on mine when I fitted the turbo (because I wasn't sure the g40 pointer would match a non-g40 bottom pulley) but I had the head off at the time so it was relatively easy.
