Title: G40 questions
Post by: chief40 on September 13, 2009, 08:12:51 PM
Hi guys,
Sorry to ask, but being new to the G40 scene......what is a de-wedged throttle body?
and also was central locking standard on the G40? My VW dealer is saying central locking isn't listed on ETKA for Mk 3 Polos?! 3 dealers have told me this.
Cheers,

Welcome aboard Chiefy,
the butterfly in the polo throttle body has two alloy wedges screwed onto it which help to smooth out throttle response at low engine speeds. Removing them and filling in the screw holes improves airflow at the cost of a snappier throttle response. Some swear by it some swear at it.
Central locking's aftermarket.

Central locking or electric windows were never available as an option from the factory. Lots of G40s have had them added, possibly from new by the dealers.
