Title: Start Up issue
Post by: DKnight on September 10, 2009, 08:59:37 AM
howdy ho

thought id stick a post up for this, before i actually investigate, to get an idea

Basically my car only over the last week or 2 has decided it doesnt want to start in a morning, first time it started it missed the first few cranks, then finally started

day after it went longer

and now this morning it took forever to finally fire

once running, no coughing or spluttering, but maybe an ever so slight missfire, but could just be my ears

now what else i have noticed, sometimes at random times i can go to start it up, and it just does nothing, like when your battery is flat, it tries ever so slightly

then again eventually it starts

when driving the car it pulls all fine runs fine, but coming to lights and stuff it has stalled more than normal

i cant help but think all the problems are related

my first thoughts are the ignition system obviously, cap arm all look fine, fresh new leads too (leads could be causing it tbh?) started around the same time

dizzy seems fine aswell

im going to just do the usual checks, but it is progressively getting worse

cheers!

i was thinking hall sender, but it seems to be gradually variable so leads me not to thing that

yeah we can test at weekend, but unfortunately we will only get one test in the morning when it does it!

One battery cell  with intermittent fault giving a fluctuating demand to the alternator when running and problems on start-up ?

could be battery, its becoming a common problem now, drove it today and on start up it hesitates ever so slightly, so if i put foot down there is like a dead spot, then it takes off, im thinking battery, alternator, earth issue

what about my mechanical ability?

plugs were new about 2 year ago, will check them anyway

fuel pump relay if you dont here it prime before starting, fuel pump or filter choked, crap in tank.
might be crap in tank , when you leave it all the crap will sit over the outlet, just a thought.

Sod the car you wanna get to a doctor!

If it ever leaves you stranded dont hesitate to give me a shout. There is always a set of jump leads and a towrope in the back of the disco.

Infact speaking of the disco how the hell did you spot me in that today? Im pretty sure you have never seen it before.

And what are you always doing at greenhead park? Nothing to do with fondling kids I hope.

I suspected as much.

Dan wishes he was a little bit taller, wishes he was a 'baller, wishes he had a girl who looked good... he would call her.

get your vagcom on it

yeah vagcom be next bet, we checked the compression and it was all healthy and fine, i think its a fueling issue, as once it is warmed up it runs fine, but 15min after cold starting it, if you push throttle it has a massive flat spot which most of time it cuts out

strange
