Fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinally got the G40 back after a month of driving under 55mph in the Mk1 ;)
Had what feels like loads done. Sent the charger off to Jabbasport via PhilJ. No problems with their service and got it back all okies :) Had the head all re-done and a bunch of other stuff I put on my last post.
spent Saturday cleaning and took some piccies. Think I need to clean up the rocker cover now hehe

Looking good, really like the colour.
You Lucky Lass, Bless You Girl.
Fred.
Where did you get the catch tank and pipe from gemma?
that looks like a flat blue - non metallic... Maritime blue i think. only done on L reg as a standard colour (in addition to white, black red as stock colours)
Just from eBay (Item no 360184713145 I think). The tank was £25 but you get some silly garden hose with it.
The hose is Samco and I thought it was mucho expensive ... about £70. Luckily the guy who fitted it used half the hose on his own car so I only paid half of that.
You know where the throttle butterfly is ... should I have the old bit of hose cut off and pointing downwards? It seems a bit open to me.

Yup Maritime Blue .... the blue no one ordered after they bought out Windsor blue lol
looks nice big fat catch tank pipe... GOOD, i've witness ones with reducers on and they've blocked and caused all sorts of oil seals to go POP

Have to point this out as want to check mine

I assumed that was the size they all were so that's more luck that judgement!!
Jake - this bit here on the left is it meant to have a hose leading downwards otherwise stuff could fly into the butterfly bit?

aaah yes I've seen those. Can you pick them up from eBay?
i have a k an n filter that fits this. if you wanna buy it think £15 posted is about right.

That one? Might consider purchasing one for if i ever decide to do the boost return mod in the future :)
Yeh that's it. If you search 'Oil catch tank' there's loads of different sizes/shapes and all seem to be pretty good quality as long as you don't use the garden hose that comes with it!!
P.s the boost return mod is coooooool. But I don't drive my car all the time - I can imagine it might get annoying. I just like seeing people's faces wondering what that big vacuum cleaner is coming down the road lol
i cant see how that massive blue hose goes to a small connector on the tank ... debating modding the charcoal canister and put it back in original position as a catch tank
I don't know either Jake ... it looks pretty massive to me. We'll look later
unless the inlets have been modified?
i once used a catch tank with reducers (as did RAW) on here. Mine resulted in a restricted breathing system and loooads of oil all over the floor.
RAWs made him pop a charger seal.
So you need to have no kinks or reducers in the system or you stand a chance of pressurising the crank case and oil finding the easiest way to come out.
whoah Pete that went straight over my head!! lol
I got my mechanic guy to follow the instructions on here. Hope it's ok!!
had a look at this today .. cant see how a smaller version on a k&n for example would benifit as its blowing rather than sucking?. I can see the pipe idea but would it not muffle the tsshhhh sound? ive made one up tonight
i don't think it would muffle the sound at all, i fitted a filter onto the end of mine when i did the mod and my filter got ever so oily and dripped all over, (over a long period). leaving it exposed shouldn't really be a problem i'd have thought maybe the odd spider invading the tb tho it would just get blown straight back through.
