I don't remember PSD ever offering this as a kit but I could be wrong.  Steve-o on clubpolo once wrote quite a good guide on clubpolo of how to do it.  Basically involves 4x 12v SPDT NO relays, 2x inline fuses and some reasonably thick gauge wire.  The parts come to about a fiver from maplins.

I got a steve_o one from a lad on clubpolo for £10 posted... one of the best upgrades i've done :)

One sold for £25 last week, the seller got a good deal there! £35 is a lot of dollar for some cable, crimps and relays though.

I've just taken some photos too but as I've left them at full size so the wire are easier to follow they're taking a while to upload to flickr.

I don't know if he's even still around the vw scene, the post date on the envelope was 2005.

na, steve-o bought a 4 motion golf and didnt even come to bvf this year, one of his fave shows in the past.

If people are interested i could do a group buy on these tho and source a supplier?!

That one on ebay looks crap, no way would I ever let those blue plakky crimp on terminals near my car. Im surprised it doesent come with a couple of scotchlocks as well!

That one from steve-o looks way better, although all black wire seems a bit odd.

Wires come in different colours for more reasons than aethetics. Suppose you wanted to change a failed relay etc, it wouldnt be hard to get the wires mixed up. I know its not a major issue but im pretty old school when it comes to stuff like that, its just bad working practice IMHO.

agreed! it'd be a nightmare trying to trace a wiring issue if all the wires were the same colour.  But it's obviously just been done because the seller has bought a reel of black wire.  When I made one I just bought some lengths of different coloured wire from Farnell.

I don't really think having the wires all the same colour is too much of a problem with this particular loom, there aren't that many wires and none of them are notably long.

I know in real terms its not a major issue. Just bad practice like I said.

personally i don't see the point.  The head lights arent amazing but they arent too bad, not so bad that i could be arsed to spend a few hours making them marginally better.  i parked up with someone a while back with this mod and could barely tell the difference.

yeah I agree to an extent, I reckon coupled with some higher wattage bulbs there'll be a good difference.  As I mentioned (I think..) I made one of these myself once with the intention of fitting it to the GT breadvan I was using as a daily driver at the time.  But I never actually got round to fitting it.  All the driving I really do at night is generally on street lamp lit roads or motorways anyway so it kinda seemed pointless to me.  I've long since used the relays, fuses and wire for other things before people ask to buy it  ;D

Yeah I must say that my headlights seem very good compared with other stuff I drive. Most people are probably used to modern stuff with their super bright lamps.
