I have just got my polo started and theres an extremely heavy knockin coming from the toothed belt conversion..

the pulley on the altenator is hitting again the chassis leg... well.. the engine bracket on the leg.

yeah I had to make a cut out on mine when I had toothed belts on it.

You can see the notch out of the standard bracket to clear the charger belts.

thanks guys :)

i also noticed my belt was running to the outer edge of the pulley..
im guessing my altenator is running incorrectly.
im go try either bending the bracket or running a few washed to bring the altenator back in a bit

You can get a bit of extra room by loosening your engine mounts and shoving the engine as far left as it will go.

You don't want to be bending that bracket, it will ruin your front wheel geometry.

Grind some metal out, around where it's notched.

i fitted a couple of washers on the altenator at the top on the left to push it across

now it frays the belt ?
lol i'll take one off see how she goes..

no clearance issues with it like that tho..

plus i slackened the engine bracket and two bolts to hte chassis leg..

helped alot!
