Ok, im going to get my G serviced and that lamda probe looked into. Thanks for all the helpful advice from members of this site. I take it the best oil is quantum semi synthetic? Im at a bit of a loss plugswise though!? There is a guy selling them on ebay, but are they the right type for a g40?

w5dpo bosch
no those aren't the right type in that ebay listing. As Pete says, Bosch W5DPO (although I think they've been superceeded by part number something like WR5DP nowadays which is the same thing but with a resistor in it). They are single electrode plugs with a platinum tip, cheaper ones will run too hot. You can get away with cheaper ones in a standard g but it still wont do power any good.
ive just put some in i got from GSF. Not the W5DPO code but W5DTC or something like that. These rubbish? I had to change them badly as the ones i had in there were knackered!
What about using W4DPO's ?
w5rdpo (same as orig but with resistor have replaced the w5dpo i think)
Both Yoof and I found that running WR4DP0 plugs meant the cars started eating rotor arms (which also have a suppression resistor in them). We've both since switched to non-resistor plugs.
rotor arms aren't expensive though but cheers for the info. I'll get some W5's ordered in.
True, but it is annoying changing rotor arms at the side of the road if/when they properly go bang.
ah, didnt realise that they could go off like that! Don't really wanna find out either!
NGK Plugs in my experience are far better...
I've got a few more sets to try then will be buying a batch and selling them- they're about half the price of Bosch too...
ngk equiv of w5dp0 are bp7evx and are about £20 a set!
That sounds more reasonable imo. I'll probably buy a set of the W5's just to give the engine a spring clean for the eaton conversion and then try a set of those to see if theres any difference.
some people in the past have had issues with ngks on relatively standard motors - i.ve used them and not had a problem personally.
I've been usig the NGK's too, didn't have a problem with them, but I do think they will need replacing more often than W5's. I'm back on Bosch currently.
