Title: ptfe spray into charger
Post by: g40chris on May 10, 2009, 06:49:14 PM
i sprayed some of this into the inlets as advised when running and i noticed that it changed the tone of the engine/charger for a few seconds as if the revs had dropped.

is this normal or could i have a problem somewhere

Some spray going right through the system into the combustion chambers; normal.

How long do you guys spray it in? and do you cover the inlet with something else to seal it to the can when you do it?

yeah I used to give it some revs while doing it so the engine doesn't struggle.  I never covered the inlet up or anything, just give it a bit of revs and spray in.  Probably 3 or 4 short sprays for a second or two each.  Don't go spraying tons of the stuff.

I've sprayed some ptfe (6 short bursts) i loosed the belts and i rolled with my hand the charger and it was turning slightly hard (i have done the same test before spraying the ptfe when i had the boost return pipes). Has anybody rebuilt a charger that was using ptfe - are they lubricating ok?
