Title: Insurance Comparison
Post by: DaBigGinger on April 15, 2009, 09:48:57 PM
Just out of curiosity, what are you guys paying for insurance?

I'm 25, Mk2 Polo with G40 conversion @ 180bhp, good area as far as the insurance company are concerned, garaged, no claims, accidents etc. driving for 7 years & 4 years NCB. Current price: £465 fully comp with HIC with protected NCB.

mine is about £450 fully comp.  It's actually a GT with G40 conversion up to 150bhp (going to have to change that once the turbo conversion is complete!).  All mods declared (and there's quite a lot).  I'm 29 with about 7 years NCB but I live in a crap area for insurance as anything with an Oldham postcode tends to set alarm bells ringing when you get insurance quotes!

21, 2 years NCB, 3 Points, All mods declared up to 130bhp, £695

*edit* TPFT, fully comp was far too expensive  :-[

Mine costs £600, fully comprehensive cover, 160bhp G40 converted GT with all mods declared and an agreed value of £3k. I've got European cover with that too.

I'm with Brentacre, have always found the service to be top dollar with them so I've stayed put.

24 yo (6 years no claims)
5,000 miles limited (just social)
TPFT
Standard G40 - I think I am allowed to put some mods on but I haven't
£319 with Brentacre who always seem to come out cheapest on VW's.

Looking forward to renewing this year as I am 25 so can drive other cars without paying £££££ who hooooo and hopefully can insure the G40 and Mk1 under one policy to get it cheaper.

At nearly 64 I'm too old to be a fossil but without ever claiming anything other than glass in Fred's years, Brentacre came up with £465 for 130 horses and 5k with clean licence and good area. A big disappointment. HIC's £230 seemed much kinder. Sticking point with Brentacre was  the subframe;anyone else had problemos with subframes?
