I am looking to replace the fuel pump for the G to an uprated one.
Which one? and where from?
thanks.
why? what's wrong with the standard one? Good for 200bhp+
I don't know whether Yoof will give you the part number or not, but he runs an uprated one that I'm sure he said was a fair bit cheaper than the O.E. G40 one. If it is cheaper, then you might as well get one regardless of whether your engine needs it or not - it won't matter.
Just be careful to make sure that you don't go too big if uprating. The FPR can only flow so much fuel back through the return line - though I guess unless you're going to try using a single pump spec'd to fuel a 1000bhp Skyline it won't be an issue...
i will; be running a bosch 044, i know a bit overkill but i got it from my mate at M-sport only been used in one rally can get these still boxed for £100 if anyone is interested.
On the note of fuel pumps, whats the pressure of a standard G40 pump?
pumps are measured by flow rate not pressure (other than a max pressure they can handle). The fuel pressure regulator on the end of the fuel rail decides the fuel pressure, which is around 3bar on a g40 but varies with vacuum & boost. Not sure on the standard g40 pump flow rate though!
Cheers for that, i knew that but asked anyway.. ??? ::)
On another note what is the difference between a standard fuel pump and a G40 one? I see Etka lists a different part (one has a 'B' on the end the other desn't)
Anyone know why this is?
higher flow rate. I don't know the figures off the top of my head but the pump used on GTs, G40s and NZ engines flows more fuel than the one used on single point injection mk3 engines.
I wouldnt mind some information on any fuel pumps that could be used if theyre cheaper. I know they're really expensive from VW! mine is whining so could do with a new one
they do whine from new Jake mind..i got mine from vw a while back for 130 quid. the in tank ones are around 30 quid from vw. the inline one is bosch so you can hunt around a bit for cheaper ones through bosch themselves and bosch dealers.
C'mon Pete (Yoofy), what is the one you use?
