orite guys, an in the process of fitting a new stainless exhaust system and manifold, using how to's and posts off of here i have removed the charger, altenator and bracket and i have managed to get the whole exhaust off in a oner but i cannot get the lamde sensor out of the pipe is is solid, if i cant get it out is a new one my only option?? if so does anyone know how much a new one could be.
cheers grant.
Are you sure that the lamda sensor is solid? The sensor is BOLTED before the catalyst converter...
Try spraying WD40 into the sensor and unbolt the 22mm nut...
In case you can't take it off a new one Bosch λ will cost you approximately 80euros...
To be fair Grant, the lamda can be a bastard to remove.
I couldn't remove the one in my downpipe whilst it was on the car. I ended up taking the downpipe off, holding it in a vice and applying a serious amount of heat to the nut/boss before using a long spanner and plenty of grunt to undo it.
It's worth noting that the lamda can be quite easily damaged, so be careful.
Hope this helps,
Richard.
to much heat can damage it and one from vag are 110 pound!
i may have a spare vag one with little use as standalone means ill just be using my wideband
i got a price of a motorfactors for 55 quid would that be ok or would it need to be a vag one. Is the harness on your one ok, how much would you take.
Just to note Lance, it was the downpipe and boss that I heated not the lamda.
does anyone have the bosch number for this?
