Hay chaps
Need ur help and expertise!
I kno it kinda been asked befor and there was never a real answer. The car starts fine but it just stalls, unless i rev it. After it warms up it'll idle just over 500rpm but it wont stall!
Ive been tho the diagnostic guide on here, got to the point where i dissconnect the blue temp sender and again it stalls! Checked as much as in the guide and other post I just cant find the problem.
New bits ive changed
battery, alternator (13.51 with everything on), 3 blue temp senders, hall sender and lambda (a spare not new but unsure on condition of eather)
tested the 80% of the loom and the earth straps. Added a new earth form the battery
to the lambda
to the ecu
to the coil.
Thanks in advance

It could be the idle control valve. This is situated on the coolant pipe that runs behind the block/underneath the inlet manifold.
Firstly check it's electrical connection is sound and clean. If the problem still persists then you'll have to remove the valve itself. Only two bolts, but they're a right awkward fucker to get to! ::)
With the valve off, thoroughly clean it out in petrol. Reassemble and try again.
Good luck and hope it helps.
Richard.
Is your ignition timing set correctly?
Cheers for the replys
No i havent checked the idle control valve i assumend the problem was a sensor.
i think the timings ok it was checked bout 9months ago but im not sure what the guy at the garage was sure what he was doing?
How can i check the timing?
dom
use a timing gun on your bottom pulley timing marks.
Warm it up, unplug the blue temp sensor and set the ignition advance at 2000 RPM (5deg +/- 1 deg). If you can't see the marker well get a dab of tippex in the TDC groove.
i thought haynes said 6 degrees?
do you do it to 5 dan - then see if its better at 4 or 6?
i thought it was 4 +- 1
sure its 6 in the g40
but haynes right 5 +- 1 .
up to yourself tho
but most people on here have said before at 6
Is there a way of checking the timing with out the blue temp sender being unplugged? Cos when i unplug it the car stalls instantly! Could it be that far out?
Yes, it could be that far out. Or you might have another faulty sensor elsewhere.
Had a go at sorting this out at the weekend, cleaned the idle control valve, checked the plugs leads and dizzy, and it was so simple when i found it the idle adjusment screw was almost fully closed!!
I think i read some where that you have to set a base idle speed?
If this is true how do you go about setting it?
Cheers
Dom
