Title: Considering Mk1 Polo Project
Post by: jimbugalee on February 02, 2009, 05:21:52 PM
Hi all,

I don't seem to be getting far with my G40 - mainly because I'm so indecisive on whether to keep it original or start tuning so I've ended up doing not very much!

I'm now quite keen on a Mk1 Polo project - possibly putting in a G40 engine (although not the one from mk G as wouldn't break it).  Any thoughts on this?  I'm thinking it's a bit too much work and I would end up having 3 cars but it would solve my G40 situation as I'd tune the Mk1 and keep the original G40 standard.

I've seen a rather tatty but good project Mk1 for £300! ;)

MK1 Polos are great project cars, beware that they can be a tin of worms though with regards to rust etc. Mine cost me £50 and was a complete shed when I got it, it's still a long way away from seeing the road, and needs alot of hours, but once I've got a house with a garage things should start to progress.

Only problem is the scene tax which is now on them.

Pic of mine to wet your appetite :)

Rah that's cool!!

Basically I need something fast .... that's why I'm dithering over the G40.  Stupidly I bought a really good one which I just can't bring myself to modify but I miss having a fast car.  I don't think I have enough money for the G40 a olop though hmmmmmmm

Well I might just buy the olop and garage it until the day comes when I am rich. hahaha never ....

Whereabouts do u tend to see them for sale?  This one is on some classic website. I don't wanna pay over the odds for one.

Ignore silver tyres (hadn't washed paint off) and stupid exhaust!

Doesn't mean G40 is going unloved but it saved me spending the money to make it quicker so it's still standard :)  The G may turn into my daily if I sell my other daily.  Better get the charger serviced!

It's not bad  :-\

Needs a bit of welding being done as we speak then I'll get it MOT'd and on the road really.  My G is about to become to daily driver so need to sort the charger out on that now.
