G45 ??? ??? ???
If i remember well, in Pitstop forums i've seen a G50 topic from somebody... BUT G45???
hi,
no,not the one.
the g50 was a projekt by two swiss guys and a company called sig.
they also didnt made it over the prototype status,i think
http://www.g-laderseite.de/g-lader_zukunft_g50.php
the g45 was first planned to be instead of the g40 we now.
the shity mk2 mechanic, technic and gear box back then just wasnt good enough to handle 150 horse.
thats why we end up with two diffrent chargers.
thats what i heard and know.
please correct me if im wrong.
marc
Oh... I see...
Very interesting topic...
I don't even know that a G45-lader exists...
And it was giving power to the 1.9L engine???
nope,i think
was there idea instead of having two different chargers.
the g60 showed up later then the g40 because the little one was not enough pressure for a 1,8ltr engine.
once again,i ask for info because i do not know.
somebody who knows better should say so.
marc
A guy in the States got hold of one of the G40 diesel prototypes. Unfortunately the engine had been removed. He converted it to a petrol engine. See www.rossvw.com/polo/index.html
heard some place that the g40 engine was tested in a rear engined breader and then they tested the g60 in it as well
There is a picture i found:
It shows the rotor diferences between G40 and G45

On a G40 the spiral depth is 40mm, G60 is 60mm, bit strange making one 5mm bigger!
i wonder how many of the g45 chargers were made :D
