Title: Idle issues on cold start
Post by: Shamas85 on April 14, 2018, 08:41:13 PM
Need some advice please guys.

Went out in the G40 today. Started on the button like always. Let it idle from cold for a few mins and every time i didnt tap the accelerator to keep the revs up, the revs dropped below 1000rpm and the engine kept stalling itself.

Took it for a drive to warm it up, came home and it was idling perfectly just on 1000rpm. Any ideas what that could be? Idle control valve? Idle adjustment screw needs a tweak?

Cheers.

I'd suspect a temperature related air leak somewhere.  Could be the aux air valve, they can be a pain and stick open sometimes.  Could be one or more worn vac pipes that are opening up sometimes when it's hot.

Thanks for the info.

I'll check the aux air valve and condition of the vac pipes.

Would a dodgy blue temp sensor cause these symptoms?

Look up "diagnostic guide" on here. Haysey and a few others made a topic that contains info on testing all your sensors and so on.
