Hi guys Iv a vw polo gt Iv done so far is 4branch manifold s/s exhaust piper cross air feed and the chip in the ecu to suit .is there much more I can do to pull more power out of it .thanks for reading
I would personally go for some lighter parts on a naturally aspirated engine. Pulleys and flywheel could save you a couple extra hp.
Sounds good thanks for ur relpy can the gt be turbo :)
Yes! You would need a lot of parts from the G40 Engine but it can be done. Not cost efficient though! Way cheaper to go for a g40 engine in my opinion!
Thanks for ur help mate Im goin to look into it :)
I don't see why a GT engine couldn't be turbo'd if you do it right.
You could probably get away without having to source any G40 parts either if you went with an aftermarket ECU.
If you went down the route of a KO3 turbo then all the parts that guys use to convert the G40 to these are just the same fitment onto the GT engine too.
The G40 engine has the correct compression, clearances and materials in its internal components to support boost. The Gt engine doesn't. You could do a light turbo on a Gt engine but the result will be close or just over what a standard G40 engine makes.
Is there such a thing as correct compression for boost? The 2.0 TFSI engine VW make has a compression ratio of 10.5:1 which is more than a Polo GT's 10:1. Also there have been examples of people seeing good results on an AAV bottom end which is 9.5:1.
You are comparing a direct fuel injection engine with at least 4 decades of RnD and with more electronics than a space station to a port injected engine made in the 80's that controls spark and fueling from a dizzy. Yes you can take A high compression engine ad thousands of electronics and make a ton of power but in this particular case its not cost efficient. The Gt engine with the amount of boost it will take to make more power than the standard g40 engine will just melt or crack the pistons when they expand in the block enough to touch the bore. The "correct" was referring to compression, clearances and materials as a whole. Lets not forget that people in this forum have made around 200hp with stock bottom ends.
