Title: Polo Gt not starting!
Post by: cheddarcheese on January 24, 2016, 06:38:53 PM
I know not a g40 but just picked up a GT and its not starting!
The fuel pump is priming! Fuel at fuel rail!  But no fuel coming out of Injectors?

Spark at plugs and car will start if I spray carb cleaner down the throttle body for a few seconds?

Have checked earths alternator to body, right gearbox/engine mount, battery to body?

It got dark so stopped there any ideas what should I check tomorrow? Also would a proper snap on diagnostics on a 1992 Gt pick up any thing?

This could be the same fault as mine buddy. Mine will only do it randomly ever few month when I most need it not to haha. When mine does do it I can bump it off and  it will fire straight up does yours ?

Apparently it was fine a few months ago then  after being parked up for a couple of months stopped starting?

Have checked connection at fuel rail has power when cranking but the injectors are not getting any?

Fuel pumps fine just changed that today for a spare no difference!

I had a GT with a dodgy fuel rail a while ago with exactly the same symptoms as you describe. One of the pins in the rail wasn't making contact with the plug in the wiring loom as it was disappearing inside the rail when the plug was pushed home. I just changed the rail and all was good.

Faulty ecu worst case. The hall sensor in the dizzy tells injectors wen to open and close try that first pal
