Title: NGK Plugs
Post by: dubstar on October 05, 2015, 05:50:27 PM
Hi Gang,

I've done some reading on here, and I need the following:

NGK BP8EVX which were superseded by BPR8EVIX.

I asked for them, and have been sent NGK BPR8EIX (stock no. 6684)

Looking at the chart below, and seeing the last 2/3 letters as roman numerals, the only difference is the plug gap. (VIX = 1.4mm / IX = 0.9mm)

(http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/af295/shibbyreet/NGK%20plugs_zpsntjhpdju.jpg) (http://s1017.photobucket.com/user/shibbyreet/media/NGK%20plugs_zpsntjhpdju.jpg.html)

Will this make any difference? Will these be rate? I'd of thought so, but there are people with more experience than me who may know better...?

I suppose I could always re-gap them...

Cheers,

Ross.

I think the EIX  are the ones now listed for a g40 (but 7s, not 8s)  so should be right.

as for gapping - these are platinum or other similar plug so the electrodes might be a bit fragile if you do gap them!

Yeah, they don't look like they're for gapping in fairness.

Great. I'll plumb them in  ;D

Do people still gap plugs? I thought all that had stopped in the 90's? Didn't think you were meant to gap them after late ish 90's?
