Title: LSD Options
Post by: DaBigGinger on September 01, 2015, 12:55:51 PM
I'm looking at the different LSD options out there. I've heard of 3 different options for the G40:

Is there much difference between these? What things should I consider when looking at getting a diff? Do they need any kind of servicing etc? Or is it simply a case of pick one, get it fitted and drive?

Depends on what you want to use the car for, if it's an every day car with the occasional track day or drag strip then quaife is best, if it's track based car then gripper will be best but will be horrible for everyday use.

Thanks Rob. It's just a weekend b road blaster, so I will look at the Quaife. Is there anything else I need to think about like maintenance etc?

Quaife diffs are maintenance free. Fit and forget, they told me.

I'm very pleased with mine.

Go for a quaife if you are using it on the road, as Alex said fit and forget.

The gripper is horrible for road use, it's noisy and is a pain to use but it's bloody awesome on the track, it does need some maintenance, I had the plates in mine renewed and also had to cock around with setting preload etc, ball ache.

Glad i got a quaife diff. One of the best upgrades I've done. Speak to Rob at TSR mate, one of the cheapest places and they have got a discount on at the mo. Might be in the discount, but give em a call.

Thanks for the heads up. It will be a while until I'm ready to buy it, just doing a bit of research in advance so I can plan what I want for the car :)
