Title: MAP sensor - fitted properly?
Post by: Alex on June 13, 2015, 02:32:13 PM
My MAP sensor popped out of the boost pipe this week. Thankfully I didn't lose the clip, but when I went to put it back in I realised the rubber O ring was missing.

I've replaced that, and I assume it disappeared while the car was in the garage (hence why it popped out). But even with a brand new genuine seal, the MAP sensor seems quite loose. I can't pull it out but it can move a bit if I prod it with my finger, and I can't remember whether it did that before.

Is it fitted correctly? Or should the clip slot through the collar on the boost pipe, as on the coolant sensors? Does yours wobble? I can't work out if the missing seal was the cause of it popping out, or a symptom.

Mine will wiggle if you wobble it, its certainly not slack (just checked for you)

TPS do the clips but they are plastic now which is what mine has.

Yeah mine doesn't feel like it'll fall out but I'd have expected it to be firmly wedged in place and it isn't. I'm sure it's fine, but I'll keep a spare O ring in the glovebox just in case.

Thanks chaps.

That's the CO pot/inlet air temp sensor.
