Title: golf3 , 1.4 L abd fit on g40 block?
Post by: Daniel on May 20, 2015, 04:04:09 PM
Hello boys, I'm new guy here! Located in Stockholm,  Sweden.

I buy a g40 in pices and i don't find my camshaft head bErings. I search every where to buy 4 but can't find Anywhere. :/ I also know that it's important to use the original pice for just this head. But....

So my question is, can I use a head from 1.4 L Abd engine if I take my camshaft from g40 over? Ore what should you guys do?

Also got one edition one recaro golf g60 and one golf L swallowtail.

Peace! / Daniel

The head itself will probably fit with no problems but I am not sure if the valves are the same size on a abd engine and a py(g40) engine. If you can source some g40 valves and fit them to the head I don't see a problem with it. The only other think to check is if that head uses hydraulic lifters or not to match your clearances to the g40 cam. Note that especially the exhaust valves on a g40 engine are of different material to naturally aspirated vw engines.

Late abd engine valves are 7mm diameter stems early ones are 8mm, everything can be
Changed aslong as you have all the parts, the heads are the same but it's just the internals that differ.
