Title: Royal coil cock up
Post by: physicsfool on May 10, 2015, 05:02:31 PM
My adventure continues..... 2 miles down the road

Yesterday I took the car for a 10 mile run in and on 3 occasions it stalled while I was changing gear and had the clutch depressed.

Now today it had words, juddered quite a few times and finally died.

Now I have changed the coil pack 3 times on this car, from a new one to an original one that came off the engine before I rebuilt it and one off the GT that I knew ran fine.

It will no doubt start again when I get back to car tomorrow, is it definitely the coil pack? Or am I missing something trivial, we all know it's happened before

Bought the dizzy as a refurbed item. I do have a spare so could try that. But he did say he had replaced the hall sender on it

I did a u turn in the road a few days ago and the engine cut out. Wouldn't restart until I popped a different coil pack on? Could it be the rotar or cap?

I had the same where the car would randomly not restart at various points. It would run for ten minutes and then wouldn't start again. Its been fine ever since I swapped the coil.

I had one randomly on the shelf in the garage of unknown origin that I slapped on it. I'm not sure what the best source of them these days is. What do euro list?

You sure that you've not got some loose wiring?

Checked the fuel pump and turns out the earth didn't have a good contact. Such a steep learning curve
