Title: 4 branch manifold
Post by: ian on February 11, 2015, 05:03:19 PM
I'm just fitting a stainless 4 branch manifold I bought off another member, I'm fitting it onto my 91 GT. When I fasten it to the block the exhaust only clears the bottom of the engine by a few mm's. Is that normal?
Thanks
Ian

I've had the same, but it touched the block. It was on the car for some time until I noticed when removing the engine.

Could always knock the corner of the block off with a 36 grit sanding disc. Assuming it's on the bit I think it fouls; I can't see it causing a problem to put a chamfer on it. Entirely your discretion. That or tweak the pipe or use an additional exhaust gasket.

should be ok as long as it's not actually touching.  It shouldn't be able to move once tightened up, best to have a flexi piece in your exhaust though.
