Hi,
Coming to the end of my 1341 rebuild and conversion into a mk2, now i have had to swap to a smaller rad (to accommodate the g lader) and pop a low temp thermostat in, but with the IC partially obstructing the rad i am worried it will run too hot?
Is a oil cooler recommended and if so 10 or 13 row?
Cheers
Martin
oil cooler is a good idea in any case. The biggest you can fit I'd say, just use a thermostatic take off plate.
Cheers, I will make sure its a thermostat number then.
Any other suggestions? I haven't got a particularly heavy foot as i am too pikey to pay for fuel so it wont be getting thrashed but will be driven fairly frequently
Low temp thermostat will make very little difference unless it manages to flow more than a normal one once open!

good to know, only difference i am aware of is its ability to open at slightly lower temps. once up to temp i will need to rely on an oil cooler and hope the rad does its job
I bought one of the ally rads from eBay not long back. Made a big difference on track. Temps were very stable around 90 instead of rising to over 100 after a few laps.
I think an ally rad will be the next purchase once i have run it in and require a bit more cooling
I used to suffer this issue, I got one of the ebay ally rads (actually direnza) and an Oil cooler, the car barely struck 90' afterwards instead of going up and down like a yoyo!
Did a ring trip and summer driving all fine.
I went for a APS 10 row cooler IIRC with a MOCAL thermostatic plate.
