Title: HELPO! Eradic idle after de-wedging throttle body
Post by: Merrick on October 02, 2014, 05:42:52 PM
Hey hey, I've recenrly de-wedged my throttle body and now when warm it hunts on idle from 800rpm to 1100rpm? I've tried the ticker screw but that hasn't seemed to solve it. It also nearly stalls sometimes when you start it up and it's already warm. I heard somewhere your supposed to set the tick over with temp sensors unplugged it this correct?
When the engine is cold it ticks over just fine. Anyone any answers????

When dismantling to de wedge you may have disturbed the throttle closed
Microswitch. I changed mine and it de seated the microswitch slightly
And caused hunting. Just get someone to touch the pedal and see if it
Clicks it it doesn't its not making properly.and adjust to suit

You unplug the blue temp sender to do timing and possibly idle. Cant remember off the top of my head but there is a faq on it. I think you do have to set the idle up correctly though.

Could be a sticky valve, sticky throttle cable and also air leak will cause that problem.

Its quite a common thing though. My tb did it for a while until i squirted some wd40 down it. Sorted it out as mine was sticking slightly.  ;)

how have you sealed the holes in the throttle plate?  Are you sure they're a good seal?
