Unfortunately I don't have the time nor the space now to finish this project.
Some of you may recognise this car from the Club Polo/VW scene many years ago...

I bought the car without the engine in 2008, previous owner had removed it after melting a piston,
In 2008 I started a new job which took me out of my student days and full time job of messing around with cars. I started on building the car up but the project remains unfinished. Here is how the car is at the moment...

The original car was a 1.3cl which has had a plate welded into the o/s engine mount area so that the PY engine could be fitted. It's a conversion that was done by 'The Phirm' several years ago and cost several thousands of pounds I'm led to believe... The mounting point is in excellent condition and does not stand out as a modification at all.
I had the supercharger refurbed by the then Pitstop Developments in 2008. It is as standard. It had new seals, bearings etc. It has been fitted to the car but has not been used. It is still covered in lube from the refurb so appears to have been adequately protected.
The engine and ECU are all standard. The engine came from a 1991 Polo G40 with 54,000 miles on the clock which was a Cat C write off. The engine was not damaged, the impact was on the side panels of the car. The owner tried to sell the car as a project with all parts included to put back on the road but I caught him out with a HPI check. I took the engine and ancillaries from that car and scrapped the body. The engine is good and I had it up and running back in 2008. It ran and drove great with no smoke/dodgy noises etc. The downside is that I bought the donor car with no service history. My intention was to completely restore the engine and go for a 1341 conversion to make its own history, obviously this never happened.
When I bought the car it had a light grey interior with cobra bucket seats and 'show cage'. My intention was to fit a dark interior - from a 16v, Door cards
have gone in but did not buy the seats. Will need a set of seats to finish it. I still have the show roll cage if you want to use that instead of back seats?
The only body panel that is now missing is the bonnet, as the 'badboy' style lip that was welded on rusted and was coming away. I think I ended up scrapping that part as it was rusted beyond repair. The rest of the car has minimal rust. It has been garaged for the last 6 years and has around 70000 on the clock. It will come up really nice with a good detail. From memory I think there is some minor damage to the rear bumper but haven't looked at it since back then. No damage to the rest of the car.
The car is sat on 16" RH cups which appear to be a bit rarer now? They could do with a refurb as they have a bit of curb damage. The tyres will need replacing from memory, especially the rear tyres which have been catching on the arches as the ride height on the coilovers was slammed by the last owner. The rear wheels are wider than the fronts, they look mean. Tyres are stretched.
I have the V5 etc for the MK4 and am the registered keeper. It is currently registered as a 1.3CL.
Work wise here's a to do list -
- Connect up wiring
- Attach exhaust
- Refit interior
- Source and fit bonnet
- Refit front end
- Replace tyres
- Obviously service/MOT etc. (declared SORN at the moment)
Think I have covered most things. Ask me about anything else.
I'm not splitting it, selling as a complete project. Don't have time to split. You will obviously need a car transporter/trailer to take it away. It's located in the South Manchester area.
Looking for a quick sale so will go on ebay if no interest.
£1500
