Title: Bogging down on full throttle
Post by: sparkz786 on May 28, 2014, 07:52:25 PM
G40 starts and gets to temperature .. The dizzy timing is a tad strange  as i cant get it to idle no matter what .. Have had it started virtually everyday for about a week and today something told me to actually put the pedal to the floor. So i did and instead of high revs it bogged down almost instantly .. I still have to the ignition timing (doesnt idle for sh**)

Abd also realised watery substance leaking from the sump :/ dripping .. Strange although the car had been sitting since like November! Any help? Desperate to get it on road now!
Please guys!!

take out the distributer cap and check if it's dry, sometimes the seal behind it will let go and flood the inside of the cap. That could also be where your leak is coming from. Also, what do you mean "have to ingition timing"? Even if its a couple degrees off the car would still start and idle ruffly.

Im assuming the ignition timing is way out as i adjust the distributor to get it started but it idles at like 2500k so have to move it all the way anti clockwise which idles around 1500k but then at this degree once turned off it wont start unless the distributor is adjusted back anti clovkwise.

The leak is from the sump. Its almost like a watery residue but i am due to flush the enginee in a couple of days. Will check the dizzy aswell to see if its been flooded.

I'd go through the full idle setup. Check can timing. Dizzy. Idle screw. c02 pot etc etc.
Confident your idle and full throttle switches are working?
