Title: fuel consumption
Post by: garymk2f on May 27, 2014, 03:10:52 PM
hi everyone got my g40 running nice only problem is it does not seem to use a lot of fuel roughly about 45 - 50 mpg fitted a new lambda and blue temp sender got co pot set with a gas analyser to 460ohms for the correct exhaust emissions read on here somewhere that you only get about 30 -40 mpg was just wondering if i was missing something thanks

I think it will depend a lot on how you drive it, and your driving style...

I get like 30 mpg or less than 30. but I do lots of city driving and stupid accelerations in between...
I've never seen anyone doing so well with fuel consumption (only heard rumors 8)) I would love to have my car doing 45mpg...

I cant see why not if shes driven politely and bone standard. 90% of people have modified g40's running smaller pulleys with remaps and bigger injectors so the will smash fuel consumption

Nah barely drive it hard at all to be honest, (think of repair bills in the back of my mind probably :P).. unsure why it's so bad, think it's been mapped badly when the cam got uprated.

i get around 38 mpg if i keep it reasonable. always a good warm up and not much braking. even when driven with more acceleration i never got it under 35mpg on a tank.  I am convinced u can get it lower if u just rag it up to 6000 rpm every shift or use it on a track.)

running stock aside from 68mm pulley, chip and exhaust manifold & system...

i was worried too when i just bought it, now 3 years later  i m a happy man.

More power is on my wanted list though ;D
