Title: Gasket and drive shaft bolt
Post by: Jezza-7 on May 22, 2014, 05:20:08 PM
TPS dont sell the gasket that goes between the water pipe and the block. Anyone know where to get it from? Of just use some gasket maker?

Also good place to get driveshaft bolts?

Cheers

Unfortunately VW no longer sell the driveshaft bolts.

I guy sells Febi ones for a ridiculous price at £5 per bolt.

I went to my local nut and bolt place and they got the same bolts but only difference is that they are allen key rather than the multispline. Got a 12.9 tensile so should be fine.

As for the gasket, ECP and GSF cant get them so i have used grey gasket maker which is used for sealing water pumps etc that are usually immersed or have water/coolant running past them. Should do the trick.

Right pain trying to get parts from TPS/VW these days. They have also dropped the inlet manifold gasket. Still do the throttle body to inlet gasket. Luckily ECP does the inlet manifold gasket and in trade its only £2.15 and its ERLING.

hmm I'd be a bit cautious at using allen head bolts, the spline ones are bad enough for rounding off and being a right pain to get off.  Allen will be much worse I'd have thought.

£5 per bolt is crazy though.  £60 for a full set!!!!

Perhaps some torx head bolts could be sourced?
