Title: Lambda Voltage?
Post by: metz on December 09, 2013, 06:16:26 PM
Whats the correct voltage for the lambda once the car is warm? my G40 has been running a little rich and idle has been poor on cold mornings for the first few mins. wanted to make sure lambda was ok

it should oscillate between 0v and 1v at idle up to temp.  When driving it'll vary between 0v and 1v depending on the O2 reading it's getting.

Yeah you'd need to scope it ideally to see what it's reading, it'll probably be too quick for a mutlimeter

you can get them on ebay for not a lot.  ODB to 2+2 adaptors.

You used one Hayesey? I'm sure I've got a gen one at home but can't find it! Just heard some of the ebay ones being dodgy?

an ODB to 2+2 adaptor?  Yeah I've used one.  Seems to work ok with my old ODB-rs232 cable.  Can't even remember where I got my ODB-rs232 cable from now but it seems to work better with older stuff than USB cables.  Just means I have to keep an ancient laptop which still has an old fashioned serial port on it for this purpose!

I find vwtool.exe works better with g40 digipants than vagcom.  There's a download link I put in the FAQ section somewhere.
