Title: Rear Camber Setup
Post by: Matty! on November 28, 2013, 06:31:53 PM
Hey Guys

Im setting up the polo for fast road/occasional track and was wondering what rear camber shims you would suggest for my car?

My TT runs 2.2mins but I know the polo is a different kettle of fish.

By spring the chassis setup will be:

Stage 2 Subframe
KW V1 Inox
Salzmann front top mounts
Strut braces F&R

Any recommendations?

Toe- negiable

Camber - Depends on what tyre you're running, but -1' to '1.5 (and how much weight is in the rear)

Mine is at 1.5 and found it a bit much, wears the inner edge out a treat compared to the rest of the tyre
Going to get some shims for 1.25, reckon that would be good for track and fast road

Cheers lads,

the tyres are Yoko A539's at the moment, and it has an interior at the moment too.

The car only comes out for 'spirited' runs anywho so wear isnt an issue to me.

Anyone supply these or do I have to fire up the miller at work?

Got 1.5' shims in currently, I put a wheel up to it yesterday and it looks abit 'stancenation'...

Does anyone know approx what the standard rear camber is on the Mk3 chassis? As mines currently on axle stands so its fairly hard to check properly

I'm no expert, but when I lowered my car a humble 40mm, the rear seems to have natural camber, tracking guys said it would help handling...Not sure what camber is without shims though...

Also meant to say, mk1-3 polo's all seem to have rear arch space to run wider rear wheels, and / or lower offset, compared to front arches so to improved handling you could look at spacers perhaps...
