Title: lysholm and garret?
Post by: samuel.cole on November 20, 2013, 11:48:38 AM
right just thinking outloud situation,

found a well priced turbo setup for an 8v, now as the engines going in the golf it would easily fit however i would obviously need up rated internals and stand alone management to run the bad boy but questions are:

what sort of power could i be looking at for a turbo/supercharger setup

secondly what else would i need ontop? the turbo setup comes with everything to turbo an 8v?

Cheers!

So are you talking like the lancia rally car setup thats super charged/turbo charged?

I think you would need alot of £££ to do it but if your willing would be crackers.

power would depend what turbo you used.  That type of twin-charged setup is usually used so you can fit a turbo that's really too big for the engine, then using a small supercharger (or smaller turbo) to give you some power during the huge amount of lag the big turbo would give you.

also as its only a 1.3 surely even with forged and bored bottom end it would blow? couldnt have a huge turbs setup with the lysholm?

just thinking out loud and think it would give it that extra kick!

the question is how good are you with spanners? and how much money do u have? it can be done but will cost a bomb plus on a little 1.3 engine there is no point! it depends what u want out the car?

Don't forget the flaps. Never forget the flaps.
