Why do the nuts that fasten the arb to the TCA suddenly come loose? i thought it felt a bit weird. sick of torquing them up.
Single use nylocs or pinch nuts. This is why!!!
hmm..need to ring vw on monday and order 2 new ones then. tried every nut i can find and none of them would wind on the arb right.
nyloc wont hold? thats odd.
Put some thread lock on as well?
I don't think they're nylon fella.
Have you not tried them then?
the ones that are on arnt nyloc bolts. i have tried a load of others that are same size but the thread pitch must have been slightly different as it wouldnt screw on so had to re use old ones.
Tris,
They're a fine pitch bolt (M12x1.5 from memory) M12 standard pitch is 1.75
Only time I've had them work loose is when the nylon bush has seated/moved after a few miles. Torque is quite high on them.
They should have been new nuts- they come with the TCA bushes... my bad!
Pete
Are these the ones that are torqued to 120nm?
75nm according to haynes. no worries peter. cheers for that. i had to use the car for work sunday so i cleaned the nut and threads put a bit of loctite on and torqued to the correct setting. will see how it goes for the rest of the week. i remember doing the drivers side when i first got the car and that has stayed put
What ones you talking then? I thought it was the bar to body ones?
