Title: intercoolers
Post by: z3i on October 12, 2013, 09:16:52 AM
Do I really need a froby mount or uprated one before a remap? Will it make that much difference? I just want to keep my standard one lol
Would I notice the difference?

You know my one, you can buy one like it off ebay.

Yeah but it's £350 I went and saw it in its flesh when up in Nottingham, amazing bit of kit. But the ends look a bit bigger and looks like it will hit my subprime. My standard one is close enough as it is :(

£350 is not too bad. Mine was £400 i think by radtec.

without knowing the spec of your engine it's a bit hard to say.  I'd say it was fairly essential if you've converted to turbo.  Not much benefit to be had if you've still got the G-lader on.

p.s. the standard intercooler is already front-mount.

Sorry by front mount I meant mounted in fron. Of the rradiator, my bad
1341
Psd cam
R1 charger
51mm throttle
GT mani
Ppp mani and system
Brv mod
G60 injectors
Ported head
happy with the power, I just want to get the map do to fine tune a few things and make sure it's fueling the right amount under boost etc and release any more potential the car has without going mad, make it a bit smoother, as its my daily and 95% of the time will be driven on roads

happy with the intercooler, £400 is alot of money is all

taylor... why not go in the middle in terms of cost....

get your mate to tig you some ends to your stock cooler to ensure nothing is being lost through the crimped ends?

I have used the standard one with my eaton conversion and I was seeing up to 1,3 bar without it leaking (for 5 years), so they can take quite a punch if they are in good condition. Although I think I needed a bigger one for my setup!

I'm not sure you'll really get any gains from a bigger IC.  Just make sure yours is in good order and nice & clean (inside and out)

That... Is a dam good idea! Could work out cheap!
so it's nit a matter of needing to upgrade the intercooler? It's more the shiitty ends will eventually leak?

Mines pretty good, I got a good condition one and spent ages cleaning it inside and out as well as straightening the fins out. I'm getting good boost readings and she's not leaking as of yet
Thanks people :) looks like I can get a map day booked soon :D
