Title: alternator part numbers....HELP!
Post by: supercharged spaniel on December 08, 2008, 11:08:49 AM
right..on the etka i have access to there are 3 65 amp alternators listed  part numbers..

06890317TX
06890317MX
03690317KX

now the KX and the MX numbers are available and my local dealers can get one in tomorrow...but theyre way too expensive im simplky more interested in what the correct part nuimbers are...  accordingto the system however, from my reg the part number required is 030 903 023..but this matches none of them?

Now..Giorgio mentioned something about the difference or variation in models was quite simply down to the end nut/bolt?  and this can just be swapped from the one on the car...is this right?  im trying to get one started off a member on here who is going to check the part number on he one he is selling hopefully and with any luck it will match something or another.

a company called andrew page just up the road from me.  all in it wasnt cheap at 124 quid but that includes a 15 special delivery from bosch to them and an 18 quid plus vat surcharge refunded on return of your old unit. so around 100 quid ish will see a new bosch alternator.  comes with the wrong pulley though...there are around 6-8 vag numbers that corospond with the alternator needed including the original g40 alternator number 030 903 023 and the superceding number mentioned above ending in mx   so either of them will get the right one..  ive not fitted it yet but it looks almost identical...differences being the unit seems to have the plate/half where the loom attaches a notch round on the mounting screws although i cant see this being an issue and the band around the middle is black not red...and thats all but thats being seriously anal!!!.  ill get it fitted this week i think so ill let you know how it goes but its gotta be right...

andrew paige normally are decent to deal with to be honest!!

but i still prefer out local leccy place - which chargers £50 for a rebuild. does same with starter motors too!
