Title: Injector cleaning
Post by: physicsfool on July 09, 2013, 10:40:39 PM
Evening chaps,

So with regards to injector cleaning, I know the PPP guys do it for a very good price.
But if I simply put them into an ultrasonic bath in the chemistry labs. Will help in cleaning them. Or damage them?

Cheers

i think thats what ppp do, they dont do it anymore though, ideally they need flow testing and stuff
ive got a set of genuine g40 injectors thats were flow tested and cleaned about 2000 miles ago for sale, got the reciepts
thanks :)

PPP did more than just that, they used a proper ASNU injector cleaning machine which as well as putting them in an ultrasonic bath, tuns them through various duty cycles and patterns.  Ultrasonic bath shouldn't do any harm though.

If you can, do a flow test pre and post cleaning. If you're not changing filters in them, there's a chance any dirt displaced by cleaning can disrupt the flow.

It's also good to test pre-cleaning to see if there is a problem with the injectors (and if you have solved it by cleaning them).

I used to use an ASNU machine but don't have access to it anymore, I do however still have all the Bosch o-rings and pintle caps if you need new ones, they're pence each so drop me some beer tokens and your address and I can sort you some out.

Cheers

Hi Pete,

Would a flow test simply consist of dropping the injectors in jars and turning the car over?

Is it easy to change the filters in the injectors?

Cheers
