Some have shown some interest in perhaps getting a group buy sort of deal together.
So I'm after a some ideas of what sizes people use/need..
Its not just limited to 13's/14's but these are the main sizes for early Polo's but if you are after other sizes just post up with what you use
I'm thinking in 13's its going to be
175/50/13
and
185/60/13
and in 14's
185/55/14
I think most people on here are using 14's aren't they?
Any others and who would be interested?
Cheers,
Mark

Yeah I'm running 14's and tbh I've thought about getting some 15 inch wheels for track rubber. Much better choice and probably cheaper too. If you find anything I'm interested though. Only thing is I'd have to sell my Compo's. :-(
-
What size in 15's would you have to run?
and are your 14's 185/55's?
-
I use 185/55/14 yokohama a048s. Not after any at the moment though, only did one track day this year!
-
Ah yeah, got your road/track wheels the wrong way round. Actually having a quick look the sizes in 15's arent any more polo friendly. Bloomin expensive too.
-
13" cheapest for track ;D
Mark is this just for road legal track tyres, or slicks too?
-
Full slicks can be had...
I know a 160-530 13 can be had.. (no idea what size that relates to). Think these would be about £90
I can ask about 14's what size would you need?
Kumho KH31 Road tyres in 185/55/14 can be had for about £44ish a corner. They are what is used on the Mazda Race series.
Can get Silverstone Type RR in 185/55/14 for around £85-90. These have really good reviews and I know quite a few people that run them. Have been told that the only thing that grips better is full slicks but these are road legal.
prices are only estimates at the moment...and there is delivery to sort etc... but sort of gives you a idea
-
i would take a set of 185/55/14 road legal semi slick.
-
I run 175/50/13 A048R's on the track - i love them!
I also have a set of slicks made by Matador (160/530/13) which i ran at Blyton and they were shit - Yoof can confirm this lol.
-
yoof isn't allowed slicks any more

-
i've run quite a few 13" slicks mostly A032R/A048R/A021R in 185 60 13
i have been considering running 15s in the future as they seem to be easier to find but they seem to be a bit "big" for polo requirements, 185 50 15 minimum i think?
-
Those who have yokohama A048r, do you use Soft or Medium?
-
Med
-
When I ran them the Yoko guys said Medium would be perfect..
-
I use medium too
-
Anyone else take some Silverstone's in 185/55/14 for 90 a corner + delivery. Normal price is £110-120 so its quite a saving..
The price is only really good for till Mid Jan so I need to know soonish if its something people would want to be part of
I'm also looking at some lightweight/high torque/Lower Draw starter motors... if anyone is interested... :)
-
Are the silverstones road legal Im guessing not? Can you get a.group discount on kuhmo v70a in the same size ??
-
yes they are road legal :-)
-
Are they the FTZ type RR?
-
