Boring subject i know but i'm having trouble here. I'm a young driver which doesn't help but its coming up too 2 years no claims and i really want to get a G40 by may. I want to be proud of my car for once.
-
Brentacre, HIC or Adrian Flux ;D
-
Im with Adrian Flux now £550 fc with all mods declared.
-
Brentacre for me, but then I'm an old man. All you can do is ring as many companies as you can.
-
Hold on, I'm sure you're the same age as me. I'm old too :(
-
Brentacre
I think I insured my G40 with Tesco's when I had about 2 years NCB. That was a while ago now though.
-
Brentachre from 19 onwards i could never find a cheaper price on my g40 , and i swap my insurance from my daily to thr g40 and back all the time and no probs with them ! plus all mods declared ;D no worries ;D

Im insured with admiral on a dual car policy. 2 cars both fully comp, business use included for just a tad over 1k. My girlfriend and I can drive both cars. Her car is a 54 plate fiat punto. we are both 25.

When you got cover from Admiral did they ask you if the G40 had any modifications carried out by yourself, they asked me this to which I answered yes and as a result they wouldn't cover the G40 even though they're already covering my Passat and I've got about twenty years of no claims.

Im 22 years old and i insured with brentacre and they said i have up to 130bhp of mods, (standard being 113bhp) i can do before it goes up another level and i have 1 year no claims and it cost me £58 a month. They also told me that they dont charge extra for suspension mods and all that, they go by the power so its only engine mods they will charge for.

am 28 and insured with swinton, if i remember correctly am about £300 fc

How?! Is it standard? How old are you?
-
standard yeah - im 31
-
Ah, that's why then!
-
how old are you hayesey? am thinkin about going with them when i get my G40 back on the road and want all honest and right.
-
I'm 30, so not as much of an old man as old-man-pete ;)
-
am 24 but refuse to pay alot for insurance!
-
Sky Insurance recently quoted me happy on both my cars. You get a 20% discount if you're in an affiliated club.
Brentacre haven't been even remotely competitive (around double Flux's prices!) for me for years - had been with Flux, but had my first accident in 10 years last year and they weren't competitive any more.
Basically it pays to shop around to find someone that wants your business - the cheapest people for one person won't be the same as for another.
-
yeah I found the opposite of Andy, flux were double Brentacre, the cheapest quote on confused.com for my standard tdi passat was a good £100 more than the renewal from Brentacre. So yeah there's no such thing as "the" place to insure a G40 (or any car for that matter).
-
in fact I'#m going to see what brentacre can do for my house & contents insurance in a month or so when it's due! I love them :D
-
It's odd - Flux used to be a lot pricier for me than Brentacre, but that's not been the case for the last 4 years. In fact, the year I left Brentacre Kerry accused me of lying to Flux about my mods as the quote was so much cheaper - and John was similarly rude to me this year when I rang them for a quote and told them what Sky Insurance had quoted!
Either way, ring around all the specialists and see what happens.
-
My G hasn't been insured for years now, but Brentacre were by far the best for me then (7/8 years ago), all mods disclosed. They are local to me so I often dealt face to face, usually with John.
I did actually insure the Polo for the last 3 months, I had a Sierra XR4i and when I sold it I thought I may as well transfer it, just as lay up cover. The renewal quote was £171 fully comp, £2k value and mileage limited to 3k. Not much use to me really, as I only told them about the wheels and suspension, and the car will be my daily so 3000 miles is no good. Not to sure if no claims came into it either, the Sierra was 2nd car and my bonus was already used on my Golf.

They were by far the best price for the Sierra, half as much as the next best.
Oh, and I'm 33 by the way.

I discovered a new insurer (broker) when insuring my Land Rover this month. Footman James. They seem to be really really good for classic/modified policies. Worth a try.
-
I pay £350 fully comp with protected no claims and all the options ticked with esure.
-
I just got a quote of £380 tpft £250 excess, drive other cars, based on jakes 1l CL conversion 140 bhp (est.) all mods declared. I'm 26, 8yrs NCB, lowest crime zone area (last time I checked- anyone got an updated list out of curiosity?) 3 points (1x SP30). Reckon I can get it down a little bit once I've had a few more quotes, I had £350 in my head as a ballpark figure. I rang Adrian Flux and the guy told me there's no point in quoting as they own HIC? I didn't know that.
Gonna try brentacre next.
