Could be something like coil or dizzy. Whats the condition of your dizzy? Is the hall sender ok?

Usually best way for the hall sender is if it the plastic part is cracked or loose. I had a problem once where it ran ruff but only after a while and this was caused from hall sender. If it was the hall sender your engine would most likely cut out.

What about plugs and leads?

Yeah when they are loose the tend to wiggle the wires inside and they are soo small it doesn't take much to break them. It sometimes doesnt completely stop the car from running but it will run ruff. Mine ran ruff then cut out on me twice then ran ok for a month.

if the coil is old - replace that for the price they are and for piece of mind!
