Fuel/injectors issues
« on: February 03, 2016, 12:45:42 pm »
When you remove the distributor and turn it by hand my injectors are working but fuel is not spraying evenly out of the injectors you can feel each injector is working but the fuel is not coming out of all of them it's very random if you keep turning the distributor one injector will fire fuel but some times it does not fire fuel like its blocked then fire some fuel again! Is this a fuel pump issue maybe not giving anough pressure?

sounds like a fuel pressure problem to me, do you have a gauge you can connect to the end of the fuel rail?

Hello,

Checking the obvious....
Are the fuel pumps running while you do this test?

Yes fuel pump works every time you spin the distributor! And no I don't have any fuel pressure guages!

I have tried changing the pump for one I had off my spi and made no difference!

Gonna try a spare inline mk2 golf gti pump my mate has spare and run it strait of the battery and see if it's the pump pressure!

One thing I did notice is when the injectors spray fuel it very weak like a shit spray bottle or tiny shit water pistol?

Have you got another regulator to try?

No I don't have any spares any more!

I ran a direct power feed to the fuel pump from battery and now the injectors are spraying well and car starts but having an idle issue it will idle very low then stall any ideas? No air leaks! Car revs fine!

Sounds like there's not enough air. Does it improve if you allow more idle air using the throttle body idle screw?

Adjusted adle screw and no change screw all the way in and it stalls and unscrew and still idle at about 500rpm very low and dies eventually!

Probably overfueling or timing? What's going on with the car in general? Did it develop a fault or is it mid-build?
The CO pot adjustment is weighted heavily towards idle mixture adjustment, but it does affect the mix throughout the range so be aware if you adjust that also.

Cool, a nice project :) How's the ignition timing?
