Heyup Lads hows tricks???
I have Finally got my G here in Canada and all is well ,i have found shell V power to run it on but it is lower octane than ours ..we have had a few cold weeks -27C plus the wind chill ...I will keep you posted on how the G performs out here against some of the big V6 and V8 trucks and cars that should be fun,But there is some nice V dubs here
Catch up with you all later ;D
-
where did you have it imported from?
-
wouldn't Canadians hate you for calling their country north america? haha
-27C doesn't sound like much fun.
-
Canada is on the continent of north america so factually accurate.

I was only joking. like calling scottish people british
-
Heyup again
I imported it from england (sunny donny) i was part of the old skool club G40 along with mat hayward and the others,i have had the car 12 years and promised it my son when he,s older so i thought what the hell bring it with us as it is part of the family
(j plate windsor blue)
The weather is cold but the air is dry so -20 dry feels like -5 in england with the damp but when you get down to -25 and lower and its starts freezing your nostrels thats cold ??? L.O.L summer will be here soon and you get plus 30c
;D
-
Come on then pics or it didn't happen ;)
-
Hi Jules I remember you, glad you took it with you
-
Hey! You sold me a Hella grille a couple of years back now. You have a lovely G, look after her... I'm sure you will!
-
as soon as remember how to get them on i will post some up...ps i will look after it
-
surely you must be the only G40 owner on the american continent??
-
Jules Sanna I take it?
I think I have a pic of your car on my computer somewhere!
Was it much of a pain to import?
-

There was a guy (might have been German) way back on the old mailing list that lived in America with a G60'd car.
-
It was,nt to bad to get it here firstly shipping it ,it went in the container with all my furniture, then when it gets here it has to have a border inspection to make sure its clean and not contaminated with dirt otherwise they charge for cleaning it...then we have to have a customs interview and they check all the paper work is all ok....then register it which cost $70 for the year but that includes road tax ....take your uk licience to the register office which are on every corner give them $17 and take an eye test and they give you a canadian one ...job done
insurance i am sorting at the minute but they reckon $300 for the year
they m.o.t there cars every 10 years so there is a few knackers on the road
V power is $1.oo or 60p a litre
;D
its a bit cheaper than the uk l.o.l the motorist in the uk is a mobile cash machine for the tax grabbing government... >:(

looks fecking tiny against the Truck :D
-
thats a small truck for here but its huge against the G ...sorry about the ford in the garage but i need a 4x4 for the roads ;D makes me laugh 4 litre V6 and only 200bhp and the G 1.3 4 pot 142 bhp...
P.s there is a couple of golf rallye out here that have been imported from the father land but i have,nt seen them yet
-
i can't believe how cheap all that stuff is, so much cheaper to run a car! mot once every ten years is crazy though, there must be some right death traps driving about. I guess that'll be the only g40 in canada and possibly all of america?
-
They dont have MOT's at all in South Australia or Victoria in Oz. I find that amazing but then they dont have salt etc eating away at brake pipes etc but still.....
-
What i find here is that a lot of car manufacturers use stainless stuff ie toyota tacoma 4 x 4 have stainless exhausts and i think break pipes which has you all know last alot longer
-
nice size garage! perfect for some tasty projects!
-

nice thought that isn't it i suppose..
-
most mk2 golfs in germany came with stainless exhausts all that time ago. cars aimed at the uk have a 3-5 year life span.
-
G in a box
Heres a picture for you, the last time my 4TY rolled in the uk..this was a very scary moment :o :P

-
what wheels are on the g40??
-
rh cups ? or them other ones that look the same ..
-
i think i saw this car last year at elsecar,it was a very tidy clean example, i asked where you got the rear lights from, it was very well looked after, i suppose if your going to export a G40 it should be a mint one.
-
The wheels are genuine RH cup raders 14" on conti sports i bought them 7 years ago from CR enterprise in nottingham ,i think they where 600 quid with tyres but i had to wait a bit for them to come from germany..Thanks for the comments i remember speaking to you at elsecar.. :)
-
the guy in the US I think was Florida was Oliver Zieseniss
-
I remember Oliver, Didn't he have a G60'd G?
-
Yeah it was G60'd, I always remember him saying about the time he decided to race a 911 without realising it was being chased by a police car.
-
i always liked when he said he would set off most of the car alarms when you drove past.
-
Oliver Zieseniss imported his G40 from Germany to Florida.
He was a German ex-pat working in the US and then married an American girl.
I understood he had no end of trouble getting it cleared due to the safety regulations.
He's still about in the VW scene:
