not running properly
« on: March 15, 2010, 12:11:18 am »
if i accelerate to hard while driving the engine just chokes up and loses power and if i ease off a bit it its ok,
it happens at about 3 or 4 thousand revs, ive just finished doing a lot of mods and ive just installed a ppp performance chip.
does it just need a final setup on a rolling road or might i have a small underlying problem

sounds like the ECU going into safe mode, so something it is being told it does not like!

I'd definitely check your vacuum lines are all connected correctly as a starting point.
Are the plugs all good?
Fuel lines plumbed up correctly? Fuel pumps healthy?

i have found a hose underneath the inlet manifold that im going to block up tomorrow as im not using my airbox or charcoal cannister, cant think of where else it would go,
spark plugs are new just over a thousand miles ago,
i havnt put a new fuel pump on yet but ill order one from vw tomorrow.
i dont think its misfiring but it might be, it feels like it chokes up only under hard acceleration, if i find a nice spot on the pedal it shoots straight through the rev counter but if i give it the beans its all over and chokes up.

i couldnt sort my running problem out the other day as my unit was burgled and the gippo bast*rds robbed all my tools and a customers car, so i was forced to keep using my g40 for a bit but today it just lost power on the motorway and died, i did manage to get it started again but sounded really ill and then it just died again, i checked the oil level and it was lower than when i started my journey which im very concerned about, the car will not start at all now :'(, im going to check my boost pipes for oil and do a compression test tomorrow, first ive got to buy one cos they robbed that aswell, has anyone ever experienced loss of power like this before, i was driving it daily for about a week before this and it never let me down and never used any oil either
