Intercooler water cooling..
« on: September 10, 2012, 09:07:51 pm »
Got a few questions about cooling my fmic as I don't fancy running aquamist.. But on Evo's I noticed that they run a standard water spray system for the intercooler which sprays water over the cooler..

Reckon that it would work well on a polo?

it's been done before.  I guess it might be useful to get the temp down slightly for a short burst such as on a drag strip.  It's not going to have anything like the effect of aquamist though.

It's dead easy to do, others I've seen just use carefully placed windscreen washer jets.

Can work fairly well for the road, water has a far greater capacity than air to absorb latent heat.

Will be a problem on track or drag strip though, they generally get the hump with these systems.

New washer pump & jets from a modern car would probably work quite well.
