Title: map sensor help needed???
Post by: poloeatonm45 on July 02, 2009, 09:24:12 pm
hi as some of you will know im running an eaton convertion on my g40 and am in the process of fitting an uprated map sensor and at the moment i am trying to get a chip to suit the spec of my car and the uprated map sensor but here is my problem, i have been talking to the guys from g werx and they are saying that the 250kpa map sensor is just the standard map sensor that is fitted in a g40 from the factory and that the standard map sensor will be ok to run 20psi of boost, now i know this is not right so can someone help me explain to them that the 250kpa map sensor is an upgrade for the g40 or am i just being really stupid and the 250kpa sensor is standard????????????

thanks in advance for any help lads

200kPa is standard G40 - 100%! It won't register anything above around 15psi/1bar of boost, and if you repeatedly run it at significantly higher boost levels than that then you'll damage the sensor.

Yes, the oem map sensor reads till 1 bar, I you run 20psi have to go for a 1,5bar (250kpa) sensor so you have a full read..
